FAQ's

Using image recognition technology, a Phideo is created by converting an image into a video by producing a picture-embedded video.

Phideo = photo + video!

A Phideo’s augmented experience occurs when you embed a digital video on a designated image. Using the Phideo app on your smartphone, you can watch the “hidden” video by scanning the designated image without having to use a physical image.

Phideo uses image recognition to connect a hidden video to physical images. The physical image behaves like a physical image, allowing your device to recognize it as a trigger to play the “hidden” video.

Phideo creators control who can see what you want. Phideos can be private, shared, or public:

  • Private Phideos can only be seen by the creator unless they choose to share them with specific individuals.
  • Shared Phideos are only viewable by the individuals or groups the creator designates.
  • Public Phideos can be seen by anyone who scans the designated physical image.

You can print a Phideo any size you like. The same rules that apply for printing a regular picture apply to Phideos. The higher the resolution, the better quality your final print version will be.

Not yet, but we are currently working on a web interface for Phideo, which is catering more for business clients who want to make use of the “Call to Action” features and the analytics. As it is, the app is great for personal use.

At this time, there is no Android version, but there will be in the future.

Absolutely! Phideo measures the distance of the object where you’re embedding the video. If you can frame it in your phone, then you can turn it into a Phideo.

Yes! If you go to your smartphone library, you can see all of the Phideos you’ve created and preview the video that will play.

No, because of the nature of image recognition, you can only have one video connected to an image at one time. If you want to embed a new video on an image that is already a Phideo, you must go to your library, delete the Phideo attached to that image, and create a new one.

Yes! Phideos work with sound. There is a mute button below the Phideo, allowing you to control if you prefer to watch it with or without sound.

Yes, the Phideo app is required to view Phideos.

Absolutely! If you have a business account, you can create public Phideos that can be seen by anyone who scans the designated physical image.

  • A paid business account also includes a button allowing you to direct people to websites or other URLs through our “social features”. Think of a brochure or business card that allows you to make a video pitch when they hold their phone over it, and then sends them to your landing page when they click on the button. Utilizing our geotagging features, this could also be used for watching a movie trailer on a movie poster, and then buying a ticket for that movie at the nearby cinema! The possibilities are almost limitless.
  • *Business accounts and shared social features are coming soon

Yes, in the near future. We’re currently developing our social features for the app that will make it possible for you to share them with your friends.

Yes, Phideo has three categories of memberships: Users, Creators & Loyalists:

  • Users are anyone who wishes to use Phideo to watch videos embedded into physical printed images.
  • Creators are individuals, organizations or businesses that create a video and connect it to a static image.
  • Loyalists are individuals, organizations or businesses (typically brands) that are leveraging Phideo to increase brand value. Phideo has developed a quick, easy-to-use and elegant process that brings tremendous value to both individuals and brands by linking video to a physical image.

The image is saved to your photo library. Please make sure you download the specific size that you want to print.

You can download the image from your app, then email that image from your smartphone gallery to your computer. To test it, open the image up on your computer and use your phone to scan that photo's physical image with the Phideo app. If everything is working as it should, you’ll see a video playing on your phone where the image should be.

In order to see your friends on the app, you first need to search for them and invite them to connect. If they accept your invitation, you can start to experience private Phideos with them.
